Michele L. Jackson is a founding member of JOCHAM HARDEN DIMICK JACKSON, PC where she concentrates her law practice in International and Domestic Adoption and Assisted Reproductive law serving as chair of the firm's Adoption and Assisted Reproductive Law Practice Group. Michele also is the founder of MLJ Adoptions, Inc. a licensed child placing agency in the State of Indiana. MLJ Adoptions additionally has been selected as an accredited adoption agency by the U.S. State Department for International Hague Adoptions. MLJ Adoptions has a team of professionals that provide international adoption services and provide adoptions for approximately 100 orphans from around the world.
Ms. Jackson is regarded as one of the foremost legal authorities in Indianapolis in international adoptions and international family law issues. Ms. Jackson has dedicated herself professionally and personally to helping orphans and assisting couples and individuals to realize their dreams of becoming parents. Ms. Jackson earned her Juris Doctor from the Indiana University School of Law in 2000. During law school, Ms. Jackson earned the distinctions of President of the International Law Society, International Human Rights Law Program and Student Body Government Representative. She completed her undergraduate degree with honors from Anderson University in 1997, where she majored in Political Science and History.
In addition to her legal practice, Ms. Jackson was an Adjunct Law Professor at the IU School of Law, Indianapolis from 2004-2008, where she has taught classes on International Comparative Family Law and International Organizations Law. She has also directed seminars and conferences as well as Continuing Legal Education classes on topics such as "How to Pursue International Adoption," "A Child Without a Family," and other adoption and international family law issues. A frequent speaker, Ms. Jackson has addressed audiences in Indiana, Colorado, Ohio, Kentucky, Brazil, Ukraine and Honduras. Her articles on subjects such as child labor, sexual exploitation, and the plight of orphans, have been features in the Human Rights Tribune, Human Rights Internet News and Kids' Voice publications.
Despite her busy professional schedule, Ms. Jackson is an active community advocate volunteering her knowledge and time for organizations such as Kids' Voice of Indiana, Children of Promise and Altrusa International. She is also the founder of The Fatherless Foundation, a not-for-profit organization which assist and supports orphans and orphanages world-wide. Her Foundation provides grants, service trips and supplies to orphanages and it also assists couples who wish to adopt internationally but lack the financial resources and means. Ms. Jackson currently serves as volunteer director. Michele has been dedicated to mentoring young law students and lawyers. Michele has practiced for 10 years and has on a weekly basis taken time to mentor many students and lawyers.
